Working as a cashier and customer servant is one of the most important roles in our company.
As a cashier you will be helping customers with their many questions and needs at the cashier’s desk and all around the store.
In addition to cashier’s duties and serving the customers, you will be filling the shelves and creating attractive displays of the products. We carry out lots of campaigns and other sales promotion activities in our stores.
In a cashier’s job you need to be service minded, willing to co-operate and work in a quick pace and organized manner. Working at the store is very active and mobile, the days go by quickly and your physical condition improves by the minute.
Depending on the size of the store, a typical day may mean over 10 000 steps and the packages that go through the cashier’s desk or need to be lifted to the shelves may weigh even over 10 kg.
Working shifts depend on the opening hours of the store. In most stores, a knowledge of Finnish is a requirement, but in some stores, working is possible with just basic Finnish skills (speaking and reading). Working as a Department Head
As you gain experience, you may work as a department head.
Department Head is responsible for a certain department or departments of the store. It has an important role in supporting the store manager in various functions and organizing the teams and duties.
In addition to acting as a department head and working as a cashier, the role includes securing availability of the products of your department, improving customer service as well as encouraging and guiding the personnel.
An important part of your job is to take care of the store concept and marketing in your own department, so that it will be easy for our customers to find our interesting and wide product range.
Working shifts depend on the opening hours of the store. As a department head, you will need to speak, read and write Finnish fluently.
Working as a Store Manager
Store Manager is the superior of the whole store and in the larger stores they have assistant store managers to help them.
The Store Manager is responsible for that the store follows Tokmanni concept, the result of the store and the development of the store. Your customer and business-oriented mindset guarantees an easy and inspiring shopping environment for our customers.
You manage your personnel in an inspiring and encouraging way, so that the whole team works in a good co-operation. You set an example on how to reach our common goals. This role offers opportunities for decision-making and development initiatives, which are supported by your colleagues from other stores.
As an assistant store manager or as a store manager, you will need to speak, read, and write Finnish fluently.
Working as an Area Manager
Area Manager is responsible for all stores of the area and for executing Tokmanni’s general goals and strategy in them. The area manager works closely with the store managers and other parts of Tokmanni’s organization.
